Amazon.com Review
Just in time for the cookout season, Weber expands its popular Q liquid propane barbecue line with the Q 300 propane gas grill. This full-size model maintains and often expands upon the tabletop original's conveniences, while benefiting from more permanent patio installation. The liquid propane grill employs two 13,850 BTU burners to heat its 393-square inch cooking area, providing space for several dozen hot dogs or even a medium-sized turkey.

Weber crafted the grill's tall lid and body in tough cast aluminum, framed by a heat- and moisture- resistant nylon frame with glass reinforcement. A simple push-button ignition fires up the stainless-steel burners. Users adjust the burners' output with a control knob and monitor the heat on a built-in thermometer in the lid. Meat cooks evenly on top of the two cooking grates. Constructed in sturdy cast-iron construction and porcelain enameling, the grates resist warping and rusting while cleaning with relative ease. Drip ducts help direct and collect greasy drippings. Two polyethylene side tables attach to create extra preparation space. Spatulas and tongs can be hung from the tool holders on the grill's frame. The provided regulator hose connects the grill to a separately purchased 20-pound propane tank, which stows unobtrusively on a lower shelf. Weber supplies users with hardware to bolt the grill in place and also bestows their Q cookbook. To clean the cooking surface, use mild detergents and avoid steel wool. The grill requires some minor assembly. Weber offers a limited five-year warranty for this item. With the lid closed, the grill measures 44 by 36-1/2 by 22 inches. This product weighs 84-2/3 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling

5 out of 5 stars Q300 - great grill!   August 16, 2010
Mick (Cedar Crest, NM)
Every tine I was exposed to a weber grill I was impressed with the quality of the grill, ease of use, broad range of control, simple lighting, etc. But before I echo most of what's already been said, I need to address Weber's reference to retail locations. The web site allows you to enter the model you are searching for with a zip code and it will come up with a directory of retailers in your area. In my case there were two. The first was a Sportsman's store that was in a convenient location. I called to verify that they had it in stock because I wanted to see and touch the grill before purchase. The young man assured me that they had it, the 100 and 200 were on the floor but they had the 300 in the back. When I got to the store I learned that they don't stock the 300. Boo.

I went back home and looked at the second reference, a True Value hardware store. I called to get their story and was told they had one on the floor. Come on down! When I got to the store the grill was all assembled and on the floor. I played with it, got a feel for the size and started to like it. The plastic was a bit of a turn off, but hey, it won't rust. When I talked to the sales person to learn about price and whether they had one boxed, I was told that the grill price was $327...same as amazon. Ok, if I pay the difference in tax I can take it home today and not risk shipping damage (previous bad experience with different product). I was then told, oh by the way, the stand is $105. I argued...all my referenced research showed the stand included. I told them they talked me out of a sale and left the store. My parting thought was "Now, that's True Value". That price would put me in the Genesis bracket and I didn't need all that grill. Besides, I was attached now to this model.

As soon as I got home I went to Amazon and punched in an order. It arrived safely in two days, free shipping, no tax, and now I'm a happy camper with an exceptional grill. I've only had it for a week but I've grilled chicken, pork, tuna, veggies (zucchini, broccoli, mushrooms, corn on the cob, etc) and skewers of beef, onions, bell peppers and mushrooms. I love the way it sears, the ease of lighting (wife's requirement #1), ease of cleaning and just simple operation. Side trays are convenient, size is perfect for my wife and myself and it takes a minimum of space on the deck.

Okay I admit I haven't used this grill yet but I do want to let everyone who is considering this purchase know that other than the parts that ABSOLUTELY have to be metal this grill is ALL PLASTIC. I am replacing a ten year old metal and wood Weber (which now by my own admission I probably should have tried to fix!). I fear for the safety of this grill in a strong wind storm due to how light it is! Oh well, maybe my neighbors will enjoy it!

5 out of 5 stars Everything I ever wanted   June 30, 2010

OK, so you're looking at this grill because you are like me - you HATE consumer grade stainless steel (well, the non-304 maintenance headache that most sub-two grand grills come with), you HATE shopping at WalMart, Target, and Lowe's for grills mostly because the last grill lasted you about 1 - 1.5 years before it was unbearable to try and grill because the burners were rusted through and your food never turned out right.

So you said to yourself, I want a low maintenance grill, that will just work. Well this is it. Aluminum grill with stainless burners, and plastic body. Foldable side tables. This grill rocks! It has an amazing amount of usable space, and the way the lid folds upward, rotating about the BACK of the grill (instead of in the middle of the sides like most grills, you can use the ENTIRE surface, front to back. Heat distribution around grill is even and man this thing can kick to 600* in minutes.

This is the exact same as the Q320 except for three small removals, the handle light, the "warming rack" (I never used my other ones) and a different ignition system (the Q300's works fine, I'm sure it will continue to do so). You can buy all separately if you think you might change your mind, or just one or the other, etc.

Only problem is that I had a time trying to find brass bristled brushes to clean the grill grates with. They do not recommend standard, hard steel bristles on the porcelain coated grates. I bought some inexpensive brushes at Torrington Brush Works [...]. Good company, fast shipping. Apparently, even some of the ones on Amazon, like the Weber, that USED to be be brass, are now stainless bristles? Some even said brass, and the reviews said they were shipped non-brass. I didn't want to deal with that mess. I ordered the brushes at TBW and they were about $3 each, and shipping was only about 5 bucks for the lot.

Anyway, you won't be disappointed. This probably doesn't even need a cover, but I bought one anyway for twenty bucks. Might as well I suppose. Good thing about the Aluminum is it cools down crazy quickly after grilling so you can put the cover on just a few minutes after you're done (ever pulled aluminum out of the oven with your bare hands? Cool, huh?

Weber 426001 Q 300 Propane Gas Barbecue
This BBQ is a great design. Arrived well boxed and took about 45 min to assemble. Parts went together pretty easily with minimum of tools required, a philips screwdriver for cart parts and a hammer (or rubber mallet) for the wheel end caps. Its completely modular so if a part wears out should be easy to replace.

It heats up extremely quickly, is highly gas efficient and whats great is its clamshell design is aluminum, and the cart is mostly robust plastic. No more paint flaking off issues, and the burner size is matched to the design, so it maintains a temperature easily without temperature spiking. It also cools down fast when you are done. The folding table ends allow it to fit in tight spaces. **note the full size cover requires you fold down the ends. Buy an oversize cover if you want to leave them up. Also the new stainless brushes are ok to use on the enamel coated grill. I use veggie oil to help protect it and prevent food sticking.

The only thing I wish it did was hold a temp below 300 closed; it has large horizontal end vents but still requires propping open the lid to go lower on temp, even at low setting on the primary burner. It would be nice to target a 180 to 225 range temp for long slow cooking of ribs. So far we have grilled steaks at about 450 degrees with ease.

Highly recommend it and its other alternate smaller portable designs.
