Yesterday marked the opening of the 24th Annual Blue Springs barbeque Blaze-Off, a state championship barbeque contest that takes place annually the first weekend after Labor Day.
DANVILLE - Pigs in the Park needs more judges for future competitions. To do that, judges have got to be certified. Bill McMann, the founder of the spring event, plans a judging school Oct. 20 at the Community Market. The judging school is sanctioned by the Kansas City barbeque Society.

It may be close to the end of summer but in Pocatello, you'd hardly notice. The smell of food and barbeque filled the air at Holt Arena.
On Saturday afternoon, a gust of wind swept across the plaza of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. The academic complex was the scene for a casual afternoon barbeque, filled with informal chatter of new friends and old faces. The barbeque, in honor of the newly-constructed Newhouse III, was a student-driven affair.
