    Yesterday marked the opening of the 24th Annual Blue Springs barbeque Blaze-Off, a state championship barbeque contest that takes place annually the first weekend after Labor Day.

    DANVILLE - Pigs in the Park needs more judges for future competitions. To do that, judges have got to be certified. Bill McMann, the founder of the spring event, plans a judging school Oct. 20 at the Community Market. The judging school is sanctioned by the Kansas City barbeque Society.
