  • Mallard Creek BBQ underway 10:30 AM (WCNC Charlotte)
    The 77 th annual Mallard Creek BBQ is underway in north Charlotte today. Volunteers began showing up at five Thursday morning to begin setting up. Preparations actually began last week when volunteers cooked, chopped, seasoned, and stored 15,000 pounds of barbeque pork.

    VIDALIA ? There was something for almost everyone at Vidalia?s Jim Bowie Festival at the Riverview RV Park Saturday. Toys for Bands played, the sheriff?s office held a fishing tournament, children played in jump toys and the best cooked off in a barbecue duel.

    St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 16457 Old Frederick Road, Mt. Airy, will host a holiday bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Featured will be baked goods, gourmet to go, jellies, candies, dried flowers, gift baskets, 2007 Entertainment books and more. There will be a raffle and a silent auction.

    CENTRAL TOLEDO -- Police have already made an arrest in a triple shooting from overnight. It happened around 1:30am in the 1000th block of Hawley, near Indiana, in central Toledo.

    SHS DECA will sponsor a Corky's BBQ supper from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight at the SHS cafeteria. Dine-in or drive-thru available. All proceeds to benefit students attending conferences and competitions. Come out and enjoy some barbeque and then cheer the Ricebirds to victory!


  • Ely State Prison holds scramble golf tournament and barbeque (Ely Daily Times)
    ESP's First Annual Scramble Golf Tournament was held on Sept. 9 and 48 golfers participated in the benefit tournament. The tournament began with a ?shotgun? start and finished with a great barbecue. Everyone felt it was a big success and there were a lot of laughs and fun enjoyed by all.
